EVA – Ethylene Vinyl Acetate

Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA)

Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) is a versatile copolymer made by combining ethylene and vinyl acetate in varying proportions, typically ranging from 10% to 40% vinyl acetate by weight. This composition results in a highly elastic material known for its remarkable flexibility and resilience. EVA can be sintered to create a porous, rubber-like material that offers excellent toughness, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. It is lightweight, has good clarity and gloss, and demonstrates strong resistance to UV radiation, stress-cracking, and environmental degradation.

Common uses for EVA include foam materials for footwear, padding, athletic gear, hot-melt adhesives, coatings, and even as a safer alternative to PVC in certain products. Its unique combination of properties allows it to maintain durability while remaining soft and pliable, even under demanding conditions.
